Dr. Froswa’ Booker has received national recognition for her latest book, Front Porch Wisdom: Navigating Leadership Pressures and Barriers as a Woman of Color, which won the 2025 ECPA Top Shelf Book Cover Award in the nonfiction category.
The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association presents this honor each year to recognize outstanding book and Bible design in four categories: Bibles, Children’s, Fiction, and Nonfiction.
Released in June by InterVarsity Press, Front Porch Wisdom features a cover conceptualized by Booker and designed by Jeff Miller.
Booker noted that the award highlights the personal significance of the book’s cover design.
“I’m elated that Front Porch Wisdom has received this prestigious award. The cover of the book is the visual demonstration of what the book means to me,” she said.
The cover features a woman’s silhouette, an intentional choice from the outset, according to Booker.
“I knew that I wanted a silhouette of a woman. She was to capture the essence of someone that we could all relate to — and not just me,” Booker said. “I also knew that I wanted her to be the representation of wisdom, along with the color to exude femininity.”
ECPA judges called the cover one of the year’s strongest entries, praising its balanced typography and fresh color palette.
Since its June 17 release, Front Porch Wisdom has become a bestseller in multiple Amazon categories.
The book’s focus on leadership, identity, and faith has resonated with readers, particularly women of color in nonprofit, corporate, and community leadership roles.
It addresses workplace pressures faced by women of color and offers practical tools for growth, drawing on Booker’s personal experiences.
Booker credited InterVarsity Press with bringing her vision to life. “InterVarsity Press did an amazing job with taking a concept and making it a reality,” she said. “They have been amazing partners in bringing my vision to life.”
This award further establishes Booker’s influence as an author, professor, and thought leader.
